One of the many benefits of a flash jacket is that it is available in various sizes. Finding the right size for your child will depend primarily on their age. The size can also be determined by taking measurements and determining whether your child falls within the parameters of the size you're considering.

Child sizes are available for toddlers from the age of two to five years old. Toddler flash jackets can also be worn by children up to 8 years of age, but they may not fit or provide as much coverage as coats created specifically for children who have reached a certain age range.

Children ages 5 and 6 will need an XS size jacket. The sizing in this young group includes a 4-6 year old category that features a children's clothing line designed with the petite girls in mind. Children ages 7 through 10 fall into either an S, M, or L category depending on their height and weight parameters. If your child weighs too much, you should look at adult sized jackets instead of risking safety issues related to having an overburdened jacket.

Looking at your child's height and weight will help you to decide if they are too small for a particular size. If your child's measurements fall within the parameters of one of the sizes, but they weigh less than what is recommended for that size, then we would recommend considering an XS or small L sized garment as these jackets tend to fit better on children when there is extra room in between their body and the outer shell of the jacket. However, be aware that once you get above a M sized jacket, even if your child weighs more than what is recommended for this size category, it might not matter how much room is between them and the outer factor since there won't be enough fabric in any case.

If your child falls between the parameters of two sizes, we would recommend ordering a size smaller rather than going with a larger size that may be overly large for them.
