Who is Poe Dameron ?

Poe was born on Yavin 4, the site of an ancient temple that was once home to the Jedi Order. When Poe's parents died six years before the events of "The Force Awakens," he went into exile and spent some time as a thief on Jakku before joining up with Commander Leia Organa’s Resistance as one its best pilots.

Poe Dameron is a human male pilot in the Resistance and startup on screen in the 2015 film, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". He is the son of Shara Bey and Kes Dameron, both Rebel Alliance veterans from the Galactic Civil War, and lived on Yavin 4 with his family before its destruction by the First Order. He received flight training from Commander Poe Dameron (no relation), an expert pilot who had been sent to investigate Outpost II but ultimately defected from the First Order.

While this character achieved very little in "The Force Awakens," he will have much more screen time in future installments of Disney's sequel trilogy..

In the star wars film, Poe carries a weapon called a blaster pistol. The gun is produced by the BlasTech Industries company and was seen in several Star Wars movies before "The Force Awakens."

Blaster pistols are designed for military use as standard-issue sidearms. In "The Force Awakens," Poe uses two of them: one is carried in a holster while another is fitted with an electronic scope and laser targeting module that allows him to hit distant targets accurately. Another version has an enlarged barrel for extra power when firing on tough opponents like First Order stormtroopers and AT-AT walkers.

Poe commands one of the X-wing squadrons in the Resistance fleet. In addition to his piloting skills, Poe also has an expert knowledge of battlefield intelligence and reconnaissance. His weapons include a BB-8 droid, which he can use to gather intel from enemy forces.

In The Force Awakens Poe was given a command in one ship in the resistance fighter fleet that is known as the Black Squadron. He led this squadron with Poe's expertise in battlefield information and reconnaissance. One of his most prized possessions is BB-8, the astromech droid who helped him get information about other enemy forces and find out where they are located. He still has these two blasters on him which we know he used against The First Order of the Empire.

The Resistance pilot's first appearance in the Star Wars sequel trilogy came along with his fellow X-wing fliers after a First Order TIE fighter spotted General Leia Organa and Poe Dameron on Jakku, where they had landed following the destruction of Starkiller Base. The battle raged over Takodana and culminated in an attack from FN-2187 — Finn — who ultimately turned on his comrades and helped the Resistance destroy all but one of their attackers.

One of Poe dameron star wars most memorable moments came during this mission as he argued that Finn should be saved over former Stormtrooper FN-2003, citing Finn's bravery for defecting from the First Order to save Rey. This led to a brief period of antagonism between Poe and Finn, who had no idea that his savior was the pilot who nearly destroyed him.

Poe Dameron is a member of General Leia Organa's Resistance cell in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." A native of Yavin 4, he is sent to Jakku by Lor San Tekka, an ally to the former Princess-turned-Resistance leader. There he meets with FN-2187 (Finn) and BB-8 — along with Rey, who brings them into her village when stormtroopers attack — after which they escape back to D'Qar aboard the Millennium Falcon. Once there, Poe reveals that his orders are simply for reconnaissance; however, Resistance analysts later discover that they're actually part of a map leading to Luke Skywalker. Poe then travels to the village of Tuanul to recruit FN-2003 — now known as Finn — who had been stranded on Jakku after their escape.

In need of safe haven after the sudden attack by Kylo Ren and the First Order, General Organa brings Poe Dameron star wars X-Wing squadron and its pilots to Starkiller Base in order for them to destroy it from within, using their knowledge of the base's weak points. However, they are caught off guard and Poe is injured when his X-Wing is shot down upon entering the planet's atmosphere; he crash lands just outside of Rey's hut where she takes him back to her mini Millennium Falcon for healing.

John Boyega is an English actor and the son of Nigerian parents. He plays Finn, who is a protagonist in the film series Star Wars: The Force Awakens and upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie.

He has also played as Moses in the 2013 sci-fi comedy drama Attack the Block, as well as starring in 24 (2011), Half of a Yellow Sun (2013) and Imperial Dreams (2014). He is currently filming a live action remake of the Japanese anime Akira for Warner Brothers.

He was born in Peckham, South London on 17 February 1992. He studied performing arts at the Central School of Speech and Drama. He made his film debut in 24 (2011).

Previously, he played the lead role of Moses in Joe Cornish's film Attack the Block (2011). Boyega was one of a host of young actors to appear in the Channel 4/Netflix series Babylon. He appeared as Danny, an openly gay foster child being fostered by one of the main characters, played by James Nesbitt.

In July 2014, he performed at a show for War Child at The Roundhouse as part of a 'step-by-step' production which involved him walking on stage and then performing with his DJ. He became known worldwide after starring as Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) and is currently filming Star Wars VIII under director Rian Johnson.
