Drive is a movie starring Ryan Gosling. It is set in Hollywood, California and Gosling plays a nameless driver who also lives there. He does contract driving jobs with the criminal underworld for hire. The movie is about him trying to find out what happened to his one true love interest. It's a dramatic thriller that takes place over the course of several days or weeks and has much more than just car chases to it. The fight sequences are choreographed and there is more dramatic tension than scares.
BLACK DRIVE SCORPION JACKET
This movie was directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, who has also directed films like Only God Forgives and stars Tom Burke as well. This film had a budget of around $15 million dollars so it is not an expensive movie but the story line of how Ryan Gosling's character got where he is now and the way that it was filmed makes this an interesting movie to watch.
The scenes with Ryan Gosling in them are strange because there is no background music playing when they happen, most likely so as not to distract the audience from what his character is doing or saying which makes these moments all the more interesting, like he's speaking directly to us. There are also a lot of scenes in the movie with only a few people in them so there is no background noise to speak of either.
The action sequences were shot and edited really well too and match up with the pacing of this film very well. It does not feel rushed or slow but has a consistent feel to it that helps keep the audience engaged and not wanting to miss any of the action or plot.
This film is rated R and has an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 127 reviews with an average score of 7.1/10, making this a movie that viewers liked more than they disliked.
This is not a movie that will appeal to everyone's tastes or interests but it is an interesting watch and would not be out of place in an action film genre.
It was nominated for several awards, including for best editing at the Oscars this year. It did win one award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 though, which is where this film was released.
This movie is available on HBO Go and can be streamed through Amazon Prime as well, in standard or high definition depending on the service. It can also be rented from iTunes, Vudu, YouTube and Google Play. Prices range from $4 to $8 per rental period. This movie has been rated R with a runtime of 131 minutes.
This is not an age appropriate film to watch with children under 17 and may be too scary for younger viewers, depending on their sensibilities. It has violent content that could be upsetting for younger audiences to see as well as drug use and nudity so it's probably best to check this one out before choosing whether or not to watch it with your teens.
Drive is a movie that has a contemporary setting but takes place in the United States and was filmed, at least partially, in Hollywood as well. The clothing worn by the characters are kind of grungy looking, though unisex and might appeal more to men than women. There are some scenes with references to drugs or drug use.
Drive is gritty but has a consistent tone that works well with the story it's telling. It's engaging and the fight scenes are particularly interesting to watch because of how they are filmed. Ryan Gosling does not have any lines in this movie, which further adds to some of its jaw-dropping moments. The character that he portrays is brooding and quiet, which makes him all the more interesting to watch.

What does the scorpion jacket in Drive mean?
The scorpion jacket in Drive symbolizes the constant need for control. The jacket is first seen when the protagonist, Driver, is confronting Bernie Rose. He wants control of the situation and grabs his coat to show it. From this scene, we learn that Driver needs control so much that he's willing to fight with Bernie for it.
When Bernie asks "What's with the jacket?," Driver replies with a phrase most would find unusual:
"It keeps my arms from breaking."
The need for control is a theme all throughout the film, but it becomes even more apparent within context. The scorpion jacket represents who Driver is and his attitude towards life. In their final scene together, Irene explains to Standard exactly what kind of person Driver is.
The scorpion jacket also shows up in Driver's apartment, when he is packing his things. He takes off his work clothes (which symbolises his loss of job) and puts on the coat while keeping an eye out for police officers. This moment indicates that he feels safer while it; he views it as armor to protect him.
Later, the jacket makes a final appearance during the climatic shoot-out scene between Good Guy and Bad Guy (Driver and Shannon). The scorpion jacket shows up throughout this fight; we see it on Driver's back as he drives away and later in his house when Irene is trying to convince him to stay with her.
What is Satin Fabric ?
The most common types of fabric used in jacket are satin, polyester, and cotton. Satin is a smooth, luxurious fabric that has a bright sheen
thanks to the use of raw silk in the weaving process. It's considered an artificial silk because it's actually woven from synthetic fibers.
Ryan Gosling has worn many different outfits for his movies over the years, but it's the one he wore in Drive that really stands out. The back of the jacket features a super cool embroidered scorpion. The embroidery on the Drive Ryan Gosling jacket is done very well and looks great. There was some speculation as to whether or not it was real, but we can confirm for sure that it is, in fact, a real scorpion emblem.
The scorpion is stitched onto a silver plated base and then sewn onto the front of the jacket with high quality thread. The lines of the embroidery are super crisp and cleanly define each detail of the design. Even if you're not familiar with this actor or director you probably know about his most famous role in Drive where he wore this cool jacket throughout most of the movie. This item doesn't seem available anymore through any shops online right now, but there are still a few available on Amazon, though they are a bit pricey considering the scorpion is only sewn onto one part of the jacket instead of being embroidered all over.
As you can see from the image above, Ryan Gosling wore this exact jacket in Drive as clear by his wearing it once again in 2013 for an appearance at Comic-Con. This exact style and design has been replicated many times before but none have matched up to the original which coincidentally also belongs to Mr. Gosling himself. The embroidery and quality is similar and better than other ones out there but you're not going to find the same detailing, cut, or fit that this version has so look for something similar if you want something decently close to what he wore in Drive.
Ryan Gosling will continue to be a hot commodity for a while because of his rise to fame and the fact that he's been so much in the news, so expect more cool replicas like this one from other retailers in the future.
The scorpion on the back of the jacket was an interesting and unique design. I like how it is close enough to the other designs on the jacket
to make them look like a set, but not so close as to become repetitive.
