Ryan Thomas Gosling is a Canadian actor and musician. He began his career as a child star on the Disney Channel's Mickey Mouse Club (1993–1995) and went on to appear in other family entertainment programs including Are You Afraid of the Dark? (1995) and Goosebumps (1996). His first starring film role was as a Jewish neo-Nazi in The Believer (2001), and he went on to star in several independent films, including Murder by Numbers (2002), The Slaughter Rule (2002), and The United States of Leland (2003). In 2004, Gosling became known among younger audiences as a teen idol when he co-starred in the Disney Channel television series The Mickey Mouse Club. That same year, he appeared in two coming-of-age films: The Notebook and Half Nelson. After appearing as a young James Dean in the biopic James Dean (2007), Gosling had supporting roles in a few major Hollywood productions, including A Nice Girl Like You... (2010) and Lars and the Real Girl (2007).

He later played drug addict Neil McCormick in Half Nelson (2006), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. More recently, he starred as Corporal Billy Twelve trees in World War II drama Remember Me (2010). He will star opposite George Clooney in the upcoming 2016 film Suburbicon. Ryan has also starred in Blue Valentine (2010), Drive (2011), Crazy Stupid Love (2011), Only God Forgives (2013) and The Big Short (2015). He has been nominated for three Golden Globe Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and two BAFTA Awards.
