Types of Leather Material
RssFrom the beginning dawn of the age of motorcycling, it was apparent that something was needed to protect the exposed human body from the elements. The natural solution was leather.
What is Faux Leather
Faux leather (also referred to as “PU” or “vegan” leather) is usually considered as a lower-cost alternative to real leather. Real leather is in a big market and for good purposes. Genuine leather has an attractive quality, it gives exceptional stability, and quality leather develops with age. In a previous blog, we considered two kinds of faux leather: bi-cast and bonded leather. Here, we maintain the comparison with two additional types of faux leather: PU faux leather fabric and PVC faux leather fabric.
What is PU Leather?
PU leather, or polyurethane leather, is a synthetic leather created of thermoplastic polymer applied for making furniture, jacket, coat or shoes. 100% PU leather is entirely artificial and is rated vegan. There are some examples of PU leather named bi-cast leather that has exact leather but has a polyurethane cover on top. This type of PU leather takes the fibrous part of cow skin that is extra from making original leather and put a layer of polyurethane on top of it.
